Are you looking to embrace your inner artist? Visit Lexington, where the arts and culture come alive. From studios to craft fairs to community projects, here are five ways this historic town celebrates the power of creativity.

Lexington Artwalk

In 2015, the Munroe Center for the Arts collaborated with the Lexington Center Alliance to find ways to brighten up Lexington’s downtown. They established the annual ArtWalk, where work from local artists is presented in shop windows between October and November.

LexArt

Since its beginnings in 1935, the Lexington Arts & Crafts Society (LexArt) has inspired residents to share their artistic vision. Visit the Lexington Cultural District building on 130 Waltham Street, and discover 11,000 sq. ft. of studios and a gallery space.

LexArt hosts various events to showcase artwork within the Lexington community. Catch the Inspiring Change for the Climate Crisis Artists Group (I3C) Reimagining Our World Exhibit until April 21, 2024. This activist group will work with rejected materials like plastic waste and beach debris to create beautiful pieces. Beginning on April 27, LexArt will host the Lexington High School Senior Show, showcasing art from students at Lexington High School. Browse more of LexArt’s upcoming events.

Arts & Crafts Fair

Every September, the Chamber of Commerce has an Arts & Crafts Fair. Hundreds of people gather at Lexington Center to explore the many local photographers, painters, and jewelry makers, and their work. You’ll find jewelry, stained glass, pottery, woodworking, painting, prints, textiles, glassware, and other fine art.

Pinot’s Palette

Pinot’s Palette is your destination for paint and sip classes. Located at 7A Meriam St, guests can pick between different scenes or backdrops, and receive step-by-step painting instruction. Any customer can bring food or catering. Those who are 21 years of age or older are encouraged to BYOB; the studio will provide wine glasses, corkscrews, ice buckets, plates, napkins, and silverware.

In April, the wine and painting studio will be hosting classes where guests can paint spring flowers, forests, and Monet City at Dusk.

Lexington Open Studios

On May 18, and 19, 2024, LexArt will host the annual Lexington Open Studios. This two-day indoor event invites artists who live, work, or teach in Lexington and neighboring towns to share their art. Visitors can explore artists at their studios from 11 am – 5 pm. Art residents at Munroe Center for the Arts will open their studios and host guest artists.
