SUMMARY:4th Annual Lexington Lunar New Year Lantern Festival
DESCRIPTION:Lexington Lunar New Year Lantern Festival returns on Sunday\, March 1\, 2026\, bringing the community together for an afternoon and evening of light\, creativity\, and connection. The free\, public event takes place at Cary Hall and marks both the seasonal transition from winter to spring and Lexington’s 250th anniversary. \nFrom 1:00–4:00 PM\, families can enjoy kids’ talent showcases\, food\, and lantern-making activities\, followed by cross-cultural\, interactive performances from 4:00–6:00 PM. The celebration concludes with a community lantern parade from Cary Hall to the Lexington Visitors Center from 6:00–7:00 PM\, where the evening culminates in a projection-mapping display. \nLed by New Legacy Cultural Center in collaboration with local organizations and community partners\, the festival invites neighbors of all ages to gather\, reflect\, and light the way forward together. Admission is free; RSVP is encouraged.

DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, March 28\, Dr. Kimberly Alexander\, Director of Museum Studies and Senior Lecturer in the History Department of the University of New Hampshire\, will speak about women’s textile production and political protest in the 18th century. She will present her research and show tactile components of flax production from her work with the UNH Flax to Linen project. \nAfter Dr. Alexander’s talk\, learn more about the 1769 Lexington spinning protest in our exhibition\, Protest & Promise: The American Revolution in Lexington. This program is co-hosted by LexSeeHer for Women’s History Month.
