SUMMARY:16th Annual Lexington Choral Festival
DESCRIPTION:LEXINGTON\, MA—Seven choral ensembles from Lexington will be raising their voices together in the 16th Annual Lexington Choral Festival on Sunday\, April 6 at 3:00 p.m. hosted by First Parish in Lexington. This year’s Festival features over 100 singers participating from 7 area churches\, temples\, and religious communities. Admission is free and open to the public. There is free parking\, and a reception will follow the concert. The church is handicap accessible. The concert will take place at First Parish in Lexington\, 7 Harrington on the Green in Lexington\, MA. Further information can be found at www.Fplex.org or by calling 781-862-8200. \nParticipating this year are choirs and ensembles from the Church of Our Redeemer Episcopal\, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints\, First Parish Unitarian Universalist\, Hancock United Church of Christ\, Pilgrim Congregational Church\, Temple Emunah and Temple Isaiah. This year’s festival encompasses a wide array of Jewish\, Christian\, and Unitarian communities. The concert will feature music from a wide variety of traditions\, including western classical to contemporary Jewish and many in between. Each community shares songs of their own choice\, then all will join as one massed choir in the singing of a beautiful choral anthem. \nThe Lexington Choral Festival was first held February 26\, 2006 at the First Baptist Church of Lexington. Minister of Music\, Dr. Robert Eaton invited Lexington choirs to participate in an afternoon of sharing their musical talents and worship cultures with others in the community. It featured performances by five area choirs\, a combined performance of “The Gift of Love” and audience participation. It’s past midnight on April 19th\, 1775\, and Paul Revere has just left the home of Lexington’s minister\, Jonas Clarke\, with news of an impending British attack. This leaves the home’s occupants to take in the news and prepare for what is to come. In a series of three short plays by playwright Debbie Wiess\, see how John Hancock and Samuel Adams\, leaders of the Revolution\, Dorothy Quincy and Lydia Hancock\, John’s family\, and Jonas and Lucy Clarke\, town leaders\, process the impending crisis as they prepare for war in the very rooms in which these conversations took place two hundred and fifty years ago. \nThis program is funded in part by Kirkland and Shaw Plumbing and Heating\, and by a grant from the Lexington Council for the Arts\, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council\, a state agency. \n$20 members\, $25 nonmembers

DESCRIPTION:Since 2008\, the Lexington High School Cross Country / Track & Field program has hosted an “Alumni Race” on the same nearly all-road course the team has called home since 1970. Beginning in 2023\, in the interest of sharing the sport we love with the larger community\, the Cross Country / Track & Field team partnered with the LHS Wrestling team to host the race. Our teams are excited to welcome the running community to The Second Annual LexGiving 5k Run/Walk on Black Friday\, November 29th at 9am. All proceeds will go to the LHS Cross Country / Track & Field and Wrestling teams. \n  \nEntry Fees \n\nPre-Registration Race Fee: $35 \nDay of Event Race Fee: $40\nStudents & Seniors: $25\nTown of Lexington Employees & First Responders: $25\n\nEvent Swag \n\nParticipants who register before November 8th receive the official LexGiving 5k T-shirt\nRace T-shirts can be purchases through our online store or on race day for $20\nAll participants will receive one (1) 50/50 raffle ticket as part of their registration fee\n\nAwards \n\nMale winner\nFemale winner\nTop LHS alumni male\nTop LHS alumni female\nAge group awards will be issued to the top male and female finishers in the following categories:\n\n11 and under\n12-14 years old\n15-19 years old\n20-29 years old\n30-39 years old\n40-49 years old\n50-59 years old\n60-69 years old\n70 and over\n\n\n\nRace Route \n\nClick here to view 5k Course Map\n\nRace Day Photos \n\nPhotos will be taken throughout the race\nAll race day photos will be published and available to the public for FREE on our website at the completion of the event\n\nStrollers and dogs are welcome in the race\, lined up at the back of the starting pack to avoid collisions.

DESCRIPTION:Indian Americans of Lexington (IAL) is celebrating its 2024 Diwali on October 19th 4:00-8:30 at Cary Hall. Diwali (also “Deepavali”) — the festival lights — is one of biggest festivals in India and is truly pan-Indian. Indian Americans of Lexington has been conducting the Diwali Fest since 1995 and has been one of the most popular events here in our community\, drawing over 500 – 800 attendees with the past few years being sold out. \nThe celebration includes a variety of cultural programs by kids and adults\, antakshari\, flash mob dance\, open floor dancing and henna. \nTickets for IAL Diwali Spectacular 2024 are on sale now.
