DESCRIPTION:A stunning afternoon of music by dozens of musicians and three area ensembles is on offer for Sunday\, June 7\, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. at Hancock Church in Lexington. This Is My Song: A Memorial Concert for Martins Aldins will celebrate the musical life and legacy of the longtime area musician who presented dozens of concerts for more than 25 years in Lexington and beyond. The concert is free and open to all.\nThe concert will feature three of the ensembles Martins “Marty” Aldins sang in or led– A Joyful Noyse Early Music Ensemble\, the professional Labyrinth Choir\, and the Hancock Chancel Choir. In addition\, traditional Latvian folk tunes arranged by Marty will be performed by traditional Latvian musicians\, as well as chamber music by some of Marty’s musical collaborators. The program will feature works by Bach\, Mendelssohn\, Biber\, Arvo Pärt\, Morten Lauridsen\, and much more. The concert will range through much of the wide range of music that Marty enjoyed and participated in making: choral music\, early music\, chamber music\, traditional Latvian music\, and more.\n“Marty was a key component of our music program for over 25 years\,” says Mark Morgan\, Director of Music at the church\, “his love of music\, his voice\, and his gentle spirit are sorely missed and we welcome this opportunity to celebrate his long legacy of music making.”\nThe concert will be followed by a reception. Hancock Church is located at 1912 Massachusetts Ave\, on the Battle Green in Lexington (MA) center. There is parking in the rear of the church\, and an elevator is accessible via the Massachusetts Ave entrance.

In honor of the country’s 250th anniversary\, Karen and Matthew of Boston-based ensemble Seven Times Salt will lead you on a musical tour of early New England performed on period instruments. They’ll trace a lineage from the eve of the Revolution to eventual victory at Yorktown through songs of liberty\, rants against taxation and tyranny\, wartime laments\, and some of George Washington’s favorite dance tunes. You’ll hear quotes from 18th-century writers and even sing along with tunes ranging from the battlefield to the ballroom! \nHancock Church is wheelchair accessible and has single user accessible bathrooms. This trio of terrific musicians–Beverly Soll\, piano\, Ashley Offret\, violin\, and Dave Cabral\, cello–will present “A Conversation Among Friends.” The program will feature music by Maurice Ravel and his onetime student\, then lifelong friend\, Ralph Vaughan Williams. Included will be Ravel’s famous Pavane for a Dead Princess and Vaughan Williams popular folk song settings. The connections and influences of each composer on the other will be lifted up–all in 30 minutes! The concert is free and open to all. SUMMARY:Singing and Praying for Minneapolis and Maine
DESCRIPTION:We invite everyone to join us for a special Worship at the Well service this Sunday as we pray and sing for everyone involved in the situations in Minneapolis\, Maine\, and around our country. We will gather to pray for the immigrants\, children\, protestors\, leaders\, and more. Our River Rock Band will lead us in music from a variety of traditions including current protest songs\, classic songs from the civil rights era\, songs from protest movements around the world\, and more. We will celebrate a “fasting communion” in solidarity with those who are being held and are unable to celebrate communion. The service will take place at 5:00 p.m. in Clark Hall at the church. There is free parking in the rear of the church and along Mass Ave\, and an elevator off of the Mass Ave entrance. Invite a friend and join us for this special service.
