Beauty on the Wing
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at 9:30 am, come to Follen Church for the free event, “Beauty on the Wing” with Kim Smith. Smith is a Gloucester resident and long-time lecturer on butterflies and moths. This butterfly expert will present her award-winning film Beauty on the Wing: Life Story of the Monarch Butterfly—a 56-minute feature filmed along the shores of Cape Ann and in the heart of Mexico’s forested volcanic mountains. In this film, you will observe every stage of the butterfly’s life cycle close-up from egg to caterpillar to adult.
The Fight for Freedom Concert
The Lexington Symphony plays at Cary Hall on February 15, 2025, at 7:30 pm, for the concert “The Fight for Freedom.” This concert guides listeners through composer Hindemith’s musical masterpiece, “Mathis der Maler,” which portrays the emotional struggle of humanity against the Nazis during World War II. The Lexington Symphony will also play Ralph Vaughn William’s “Sea Symphony,” a composition that depicts American poet Walt Whitman’s poem about brave sailors voyaging through life.
Tavern Night at Buckman Tavern
Do you love history, beer, and spending time with friends, and are over 21? If you answered yes, head to Tavern Night at Buckman Tavern on February 22, 202,5 at 5:00 pm. While the tavern’s Common Victualler License might have expired in 1813, the tavern is recreating the 18th-century experience with music, games, snacks, and beer served from the historic bar in Buckman’s original taproom. Tickets cost $20 for Lexington Historical Society members and $25 for non-members.
