Royal Pastry Shop was established in East Cambridge, Massachusetts in the fall of 1941 by Vincenzo and Ninetta Coppola.
Vincenzo Coppola arrived in Boston from Marsala, Sicily in 1925 and continued his passion for Italian Pastry and Baking. He worked in his Uncle’s Pastry Shop located in Boston’s historic North End before he relocated to Hartford, Connecticut. While in Hartford he worked in an Pastry Shop in Hartford’s Italian neighborhood. During the time living in Hartford he met and married his wife, Ninetta Urso. She was born in Floridia, Sicily.
They moved to Boston and in 1941 they opened Royal Pastry Shop in East Cambridge, Massachusetts. In 1960 their twin sons joined the family business and opened two more locations. The business is still family owned and operates in the original location in East Cambridge and in Lexington, MA. Their Italian pastry, cakes, and cookies are still made original recipes dating back over 100 years!
