An enthralling journey awaits your guests in Lexington and Concord, where our professional costumed step-on guides transports them back in time to April 19, 1775. The Lexington Visitors Center offers five bus parking spots, ample restrooms, an expansive gift shop, and dining recommendations for the many restaurants in Lexington Center.

Highlights include:

  • Notable sites, historic houses, and dramatic history around Lexington Battle Green. The tour continues on Battle Road through Minuteman National Historical Park, as you retrace the steps of the British as they marched toward Concord.
  • A brief “detour” into 1800s Concord, where you will pass through the neighborhood where American literary giants Louisa May Alcott, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and Henry David Thoreau all lived.
  • The Old North Bridge, a truly majestic site where your guests will learn about the Battle of Concord – a much more successful effort for the colonists!
  • On the way back to Lexington, your guide will continue to paint a vivid picture of what the long march back to Boston was like for the British army and the colonists, and the legacy of the Battle of Lexington and Concord through the present day.

Explore the Lexington Battle Green your own way! 

On the 1-1.5 hour long Private Battle Green Walking Tour, our expert guide in colonial dress will take you across this National Historic Landmark. You will learn about the notable sites and historic houses around Lexington Battle Green, where “the first blood was spilt in the dispute with Great Britain”, as George Washington wrote in his diary. As a private tour, enjoy a personalized and in-depth experience with our guides that can be suited to your interests and schedule with advanced request.

It is considered consecrated ground, both for the blood that was shed on it and for the militiamen who are interred here.

Some highlights include:

  • The iconic Henry H. Kitson Minute Man Statue
  • The Revolutionary War Monument, a granite obelisk erected in 1799, where the remains of seven militiamen killed in the battle are buried.
  • Captain John Parker monument inscribed with: “Stand your ground. Don’t fire unless fired upon, but if they mean to have a war, let it begin here.”
  • The Old Belfry, which sounded the alarm on April 19, 1775, calling the militia to the Green.
  • The Old Burying Ground where Captain John Parker, ministers John Hancock and Jonas Clarke, and an unknown British soldier are buried.
