Explore Foliage at Many of the Conservation Trails
October is peak foliage season when the leaves have turned from green to various shades of red, yellow, orange, and brown. What better way to enjoy it than to explore Lexington’s hiking and biking trails? From the Minuteman Commuter Bikeway (which runs right by the Visitors Center) to the Town Conservation Land and Open Space, to Arlington’s Great Meadow, there are many opportunities to get outdoors to enjoy the best moments of fall.
Stop by the East Village Fair at Follen Church
Head to Follen Church on October 5, 2024, from 10 am to 3 pm for the annual East Village Fair. Beginning in 1839, this is one of Lexington and America’s oldest fairs. The “Ladies of Lexington” first created this fair to raise funds for a Christian Church in East Lexington.
This year, the East Village Fair will feature a flea market, children’s games and activities, delicious baked goods, plants and produce, vendor booths, and more. Within the fair’s flea market, you can snatch up treasures like home decor, books, jewelry, and toys and games.
Visit the Harvest Festival at Lexington Community Farm
On October 6, 2024, from 1 pm to 4 pm, Lexington Community Farm will host their annual Harvest Festival. You can listen to live bluegrass music and enjoy activities like veggie races, scavenger hunts, fairy house building, and big bubble play. During the event, you can buy fresh veggies, delicious Del Sur empanadas, scrumptious crepes from Crepe Du Jour, and craft beer from Arlington Brewing Company.
Attend a Pumpkin Floral Arrangement Workshop at Wilson Farm
For those in the creative spirit, come to Wilson Farm on October 24, 2024, at 5:30 pm for a Pumpkin Floral Arrangement Workshop. A florist will guide you step-by-step on how to create an autumn floral arrangement inside a carved-out pumpkin.
And on Saturdays and Sundays throughout October, you can purchase fresh caramel apples and apple cider donuts right at Wilson Farm!
