Fun Ways to Spend February School Vacation Week in Lexington, MA

February 10, 2026

February vacation week in Lexington is the perfect opportunity to explore charming local attractions, burn off some cabin fever, and make new memories with your family. While winter weather might put a chill in the air, there are plenty of activities, both indoors and out, that kids and adults alike can enjoy.

Start your week with a dose of local history. Lexington is known as the Birthplace of American Liberty, and historic sites around town offer a fascinating glimpse into the nation’s past. Visit Buckman Tavern, the site where colonial militia gathered before the first battles of the Revolutionary War, or stroll through the Lexington Battle Green, the iconic common where the “shot heard ’round the world” was fired in 1775.

The Lexington Visitor Center is hosting an object presentation and lecture from Monday, February 16, to Friday, February 20. During vacation week, visitors will be able to ask questions about the objects on display and hear a shortened version of the Battle Gren Tour.

Join presenters in the Diorama Room from at the Object Table from 10:30 am-12:00 pm, followed by a Battle Green Lecture from 12-12:30 pm. After the presentation, be sure to take time to head outside and visit the Parker Statue and Battle Green.

This Presidents’ Day, the Lexington History Museums will also be hosting a book talk for John Adams: The Voice Heard ‘Round the World. Later in the week, on Thursday, February 19, Munroe Tavern will be open for drop-in activities from 10 AM-2 PM. And, on Saturday, February 21, the museums will be offering a kids’ tour of the Hancock-Clarke House.  Check the Lexington History Museums’ website for additional events in February and all year long.

Omar's World of Comics

Kids who love games and friendly competition need to check out Pixel Paradise, a local arcade with classic and modern games. Pixel Paradise also shares a space with Omar’s World of Comics, so you can purchase a new game or comic to take home for nights in during School Vacation Week.

For a cozy, low-key afternoon, bundle up and take a winter walk along the Minuteman Bikeway, a paved trail perfect for brisk walks, snowball fights, or even cross-country skiing if there’s enough snow. Afterward, enjoy a treat from Rancatore’s Ice Cream right in Lexington Center, or from Wilson Farm, where you can browse fresh produce, pastries, and seasonal snacks, a great way to end a day of exploration with something delicious!
