Every year, Lexington hosts a Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series to celebrate the joys of the warmer months. If you’re interested in hearing music in Lexington, here is everything you need to know about this year’s summer concert series.
What is the Chamber of Commerce Summer Concert Series?
Lexington’s concert series provides free music to the public and has been doing so for over three decades. These concerts attract both residents from Lexington and residents throughout surrounding towns. Each concert has a different musical flair to it, offering the audience a fun and relaxing experience.
Where and When Does the Concert Series Take Place?
The concert plays at Emery Park in Depot Square in Lexington, MA. Emery Park is a popular place for residents in the area to hang out and have picnics or spend time with friends. The public can bring lawn chairs to listen to the music and soak in the fresh summer air.
The concert series begins on Friday, July 5, 2024, from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and runs through the end of August.
Who Plays at the Summer Concert Series?
You’ll find a variety of musical genres in this year’s summer concert series.
The 215th Army Band kicks off this year’s concert series on July 5th. They are known as the Massachusetts Army National Guard Army band. For 60 years, they have performed throughout New England and beyond using the Army’s fine musical traditions to audiences worldwide.
Get your fill of classic big band music with The Soft Touch Band. They have a full horn and rhythm section with two vocalists who specialize in Swing-era music from the 1940s to 1960s. You’ll also catch some Broadway and Classic Rock favorites.
Bring your kids to listen to Ben Rudnick and Friends, a band that integrates classic Americana with their own unique sound.
Jumpin Juba is a blues band finding inspiration from areas like Chicago, Memphis, and New Orleans. However, they also add a rootsy Rock & Roll twist to it. You’ll hear Jazz, Folk, Calypso, and Latin flavors.
Classic Groove performs a variety and mix of music that ranges from R&B, Top 40, Smooth Jazz, Country, Swing, Middle Eastern music, Motown, and Showtunes. The band includes a female lead vocalist, male vocals, saxophone, bass guitar, lead and rhythm guitar, drums, and keyboard.
Kadak Chai brings a blend of Desi music with a rock twist! This Bollywood band will get you grooving and moving with great melodies from India!
New England-based band Gypsy Six uses their bravura inspiration to cover classic favorites and original songs. The performance group is rooted in soulful Blues and Classic Rock/Funk.
