Outside of Lexington Visitors Center

The Lexington Visitors Center was constructed in 2020 and serves as a place for anyone to learn about the history of the town. Here, you can find the key to all hospitality information, historical interpretive services and exhibits, and art and cultural resources 362 days of the year.

Take a Tour of the Revolutionary History

There are many opportunities to explore Revolutionary History just within the Visitors Center. This center provides interpretive guides on the Battle Green and Liberty Ride Trolley Tour and the Old Burying Ground. Right in the Visitors Center, you’ll find the Diorama of the Battle of Lexington. This diorama uses miniature figurines to illustrate what exactly happened during the Battle of Lexington. Major William Francis Buckley built this diorama, which was exhibited at the World’s Fair in New York in 1964 before it found its home at the Lexington Visitors Center.

Here, you’ll also find a broad range of offerings within Lexington like suggestions for restaurants to eat at that reflect the town’s colonial past, a referral to the library of archives to discover your own relationship with potential colonial ancestors, maps of the Minuteman Bikeway, written narratives, maps, and directions to historic sites that played a part in the American Revolution.

Head to the gift shop, where you can browse educational product displays and purchase American Revolutionary memorabilia, apparel, and crafts, books and guides, colonial toys, and postcards of travel sites. Don’t forget to bring your holiday shopping list with you!
