About the Artist
Christina Chang’s art is deeply rooted in her multicultural heritage, world travels, and life experiences. Her father, an architect from Shanghai, instilled in her an appreciation for spatial design, while her Italian-American mother, an interior designer and artist, shaped her understanding of form and detail.
Receiving formal art training at age 13, Chang went on to earn a BFA from Texas Christian University, where she was awarded the Nordon Fine Art Scholarship, and later completed a master’s degree at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). A formative period of study in Florence, Italy, further influenced her creative journey.
Chang creates bold, colorful paintings that explore energy, movement, and emotion, bridging the gap between abstraction and landscape. Her work invites viewers into immersive spaces of color and form, drawing inspiration from both personal experiences and the natural world.
In addition to her studio practice, Chang is a dedicated art educator, inspiring high school students and leading weekend workshops and artist retreats to empower others to explore their artistic voice. She also offers private lessons and coaching, helping fellow artists develop their skills and creative careers.
