LexSeeHer holds an annual event to commemorate Anna Harrington’s bold 1769 Spinning Protest. In the Tableau, 45 volunteers help make this historic event visible, showing what impression may have been made on August 31, 1769 when 45 women stepped out with their spinning wheels to protest increased taxes on imported textiles. Women declared they would rather make their own “homespun” than pay taxes they believed were unjust. Join us to celebrate women’s contributions to American history!
