A Lex250 Refresher: Everything You Need to Know

March 18, 2025

Lexington Patriots' Day Parade 2024

As the town of Lexington approaches Lex250, which takes place on April 19, 2025, here is a refresher of everything we know about this big celebration.

What is Lex250?

Lex250 commemorates the Battle of Lexington as an impactful moment in American history, where brave citizens fought for American Independence. On April 19, 1775, 77 members of the Lexington militia fought against 700 British troops on the Lexington Battle Green where eight colonists were killed and ten were wounded. When the British moved on to Concord they faced 400 Minutemen and militiamen and decided to retreat to Boston, passing through Lexington again where even more Lexington Minutemen ambushed them.

A Review of the Lex 250 Projects

To gear up for Lex250, the Lex250 Commission has led four projects to honor those who fought in the Battle of Lexington.

The countdown calendar, right in front of Lexington’s Town Office Building, helps engage local groups like schools, civic organizations, and businesses to remember Lex250. It was built to get town residents and visitors excited and ready for the 250th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington.

You’ll find four hidden horse statues adorned by local artists around Lexington. They are meant to represent the town’s rich equestrian heritage and creative expression while also commemorating the brave story of Paul Revere. You can go on a scavenger hunt, strolling through the streets of Lexington to find all four sculptures.

In April 2025, you can head to the Lexington Visitors Center where you’ll find Paul Revere’s Animated Ride. Located in the diorama room of the Visitors Center, this video will offer more insights into the American Revolution. Another project you’ll discover during your visit here is the Penny Machine, which offers four penny press designs including a Lex250 design.
