A Rainy Day Guide in Lexington
April 16, 2025

The month of April might be known for bringing rain showers, but that doesn’t mean you still can’t have fun in Lexington! There are plenty of ways to enjoy Lexington indoors, as the town offers several rainy-day activities.
Experience the Local Arts Scene
In Lexington, you can watch a movie at one of the last remaining movie theaters in Middlesex County at the Lexington Venue. Here, you can choose from big-picture features to smaller independent films. For those who love art, check out the Galaray House, a dynamic art gallery that is also an espresso bar. Shop beautiful pieces while sipping on a delicious hot or cold beverage. Gallery Twist is another exciting art gallery, located on two floors of a historic Lexington home, where you can view rotating art exhibitions filled with local and regional artistry.
Get in Touch with Lexington’s History
Lexington is full of Revolutionary history and you can explore it at these three different sites: the Lexington Visitors Center, the Buckman Tavern, and the Munroe Tavern. At the Lexington Visitors Center, you’ll find the Diorama of the Battle of Lexington, where miniature figurines illustrate what exactly happened between the British Regulars and the Lexington militiamen on April 19, 1775. At the Buckman Tavern, you can explore the site where Captain Parker and his militia gathered hours before the Battle of Lexington. Right in the Munroe Tavern, you can tour the site the British troops took over during their retreat to Boston when they were ambushed by Lexington militiamen.
Taking a Trolley Tour
Take a tour indoors with the help of a Liberty Ride Trolley Tour! On this 90-minute ride, you’ll travel through Lexington and Concord, exploring important landmarks like the Revolutionary War Monument, the Paul Revere Capture Site, and the Old North Bridge. A tour guide dressed in colonial attire will provide historically accurate information about the Battles of Lexington and Concord and everyday life in Colonial America. The tour begins and ends at the Lexington Visitors Center, and occurs daily at 10 a.m., 11:45 a.m., and 1:30 p.m. (except on April 18th and 19th).
