Even though summer is starting to wind down, there are plenty of fun things to do in Lexington before kids go back to school.

Lexington Community Farm

Founded in 2011, the Lexington Community Farm is a non-profit organic farm located on more than seven acres. It is meant to connect and educate the community about locally grown food and sustainable farming practices. The Lexington Community Farm has an on-site farm store where you’ll find produce and a selection of premium dairy meats. Check out this farm and cook a fresh meal from all the ingredients you find here.

Reenactment Of The Marquis de Lafayette’s 1824 Lexington Visit

On September 2nd from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Lexington Battle Green for the Reenactment of the Marquis de Lafayette’s 1824 Lexington Visit. In 1824, the people of Lexington were awaiting the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Lexington and the Revolutionary War, and the return of one of the last surviving war heroes, General Gilbert du Motier, Marquis de Lafayette. The soldier returned to the United States to tour the country and celebrate how far it had come since the Revolutionary War.

September 2024 marks the 200th anniversary of his visit, and Lexington will commemorate his legacy by recreating the original event. Townspeople will welcome the General by ringing bells, firing cannons, and giving notable presentations.

31st Annual Arts And Crafts Festival

September 21, 2024 will mark the 31st Annual Arts and Crafts Festival. This event brings hundreds of people to Lexington Center to view and purchase work. At the fair premier artists and craftspeople will display their paintings, photography, mixed media art, pottery, apparel, handbags, silk items, wood, jewelry, hand-blown glass, and more. Close out the last moments of summer and welcome fall (coming soon) with a stroll around this fair. Who knows, you may even find gifts perfect for the holiday season.
