Cary Memorial Library is one of the busiest single libraries in Massachusetts. With its roots dating back to 1868, the library has more than 350,000 items across print and digital formats. You’ll also find books, materials, and collections about Lexington during the Revolutionary War, including the famous Lexington Minuteman newspaper. For art lovers, the library also has four revolving gallery spaces and an extensive permanent art collection. Van Gorden-Williams Library & Archives
The Scottish Rite Masonic Museum on 33 Marrett Road also has a library. Established in 1975, this museum tells the story of Freemasonry in American history. The library, named the Van Gorden-Williams Library & Archives, holds comprehensive collections on the subject of American Freemasonry in the world. In this collection, there are 65,000 books, 1,600 serial titles, and 2,000 cubic feet of archival materials related to Freemasonry, fraternalism, and American History. Anyone can visit both the museum and the library.
